Kemer Area Of Antalya

19 September 2019

Kemer is one of the most popular resort areas in the province of Antalya. The region runs along a fabulous part of the Mediterranean coastline, with beautiful sandy beaches backed by the stunning Beydaglari Mountains. Located 43km from the city of Antalya, access from the airport is simple and it’s close enough to do day trips with buses running frequently. Although, those who stay in all-inclusive resorts or even smaller hotels or apartments, often don’t venture too far afield, as everything can be found right there. With the holiday maker in mind, Kemer is all about restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping, clubs, activities and beaches. Make your stay as full-on or as lay-back as you like. Take boat trips, go quad-biking, cycling or horse-riding. Enjoy everything on offer within walking distance or indulge in activities a little out of town. Nature and beauty abound in the region, and there are many places to be explored, either for peace and tranquility or for wild adventure. So, where and what is Kemer?

Kemer is made up of Central Kemer and its surrounding villages; Beldibi, Goynuk, Kiris, Camyuva and Tekirova. Central Kemer is the most popular town, having the greatest variety of resorts and other quality accommodation. You’ll find an array of restaurants and cafes, and it’s the center of fabulous entertainment and nightlife, with clubs and resorts offering A-list national and international shows. There’s plenty to see and do in Central Kemer. Spend the day on a golden sandy beach, or have a go at watersports like parasailing, jet-skiing, snorkeling or scuba diving. Sip a cold drink at a lovely cafe at the marina or enjoy some traditional Turkish or international cuisine, while deciding which of the luxury yachts you’d be happy to call yours! Moonlight Park is a nice area with a Dolphinarium (for rehabilitation purposes), shopping center, mini zoo and tennis and basketball courts. For shopping there’s also the pedestrian street with outdoor markets, antique and handcraft shops, jewelry, leather, carpets, clothing, souvenirs and much, much more. Also, nearby is the Folkloric Nomad theme park, where you can experience the culture of nomads and taste traditional nomadic foods.

The village of Goynuk is a beautiful town, where mountains meet the sea. The beach is great for swimming and you can enjoy a relaxing holiday there. Nearby is Goynuk canyon, one of the most beautiful natural wonders of Kemer. There, you can enjoy the cool beauty of the canyon, hiking along paths to the Ucoluk Plateau beyond.  And for those a little more adventurous, give canyoning a go. Especially for the kids, Dinopark has life-size dinosaurs with all the sound effects, and then there’s the EcoFun Adventure park, where the kids can have a blast on the zip-line and other cool activities.

Beldibi sits on the coastline about 17km from the city of Antalya. It is another very popular resort town of Kemer, but more peaceful and quieter than Central Kemer. Its beaches are lovely and ideal for swimming. An interesting place to explore nearby is the prehistoric Beldibi Cave, where six layers of Mesolithic culture and flint stone digging tools belonging to the Paleolithic and Mesolithic ages have been found.

Kiris is located in natural surrounds, about 7km west of Central Kemer. There, holidaymakers can find everything they need for a fun and relaxing holiday, including great beaches and the Dolusu Park, a fabulous theme park offering 26 waterslides, wave pool, kid’s pool, flyboard show, pool parties, beach park, cafes and bars.

Then there’s Camyuva and Tekirova, both very popular towns offering all the attractions and facilities one could ask for. Camyuva is very popular for its all-inclusive holiday packages. Both have fabulous beaches, all the watersports, restaurants, cafes and shopping.  Nightlife in these towns is quite calm and peaceful, but certainly enough entertainment for a most enjoyable evening.

So, in general, if it is being in the center of the action that appeals to you, perhaps Central Kemer would be your pick. If a little less is more to you, then any of the nearby towns would fit the bill. Considering that they are all very close to each other, it’s easy to go from here to there. Whether you are a family with children, a couple or a group of friends, there’s a perfect place for you. And while in Kemer, make sure you visit Olympos, Cirali, Adrasan and Phaselis. These are all stunningly beautiful natural environments with fabulous beaches and ancient ruins. And for those that don’t mind heights, enjoy a spectacular birds-eye view of the region from the Mount Tahtali cable car, which takes you to the peak at 2.365 meters. Perhaps that’s not for everyone, but Kemer, and all it has to offer, most certainly is.
